2004 EOY Prelude 3
it's day 3 of the sabbaticals... really looking forwad to tomorrow's excursion (or whatever you want to call it) to nanyang technological university... can't really wait any longer... so exciting... first time going in to an university laboratory... should be quite an interesting and unforgettable experience for me...
anyway, we were given a sample of polluted water and try to find out what had caused the water to be polluted... of course, the hands-on that we did during the past 2 days helped a lot and managed to get some results... but still need to prepare presentation, which i think it's quite unnecessary coz you go for sabbaticals to learn more, not on presenting your findings... fine, you can say that presentations help to learn, but i think more hands-on would help even more as we know how to handle apparatus which we usually won't get to see much... maybe should improve on this as presentation and daily work may not be effective in giving credit points for the subject related to the sabbatical...
btw, i think the sec 2s have finished their camp... today, when i'm returning home from sabbaticals, soem of the sec 2s left the kah kee hall... i suppose thos are the ortus sec 2s... they went to chinese garden izzit??? i not very sure, but i do know that some of them went to chinese garden for their annual camp... why on earth chinese garden is used as a campsite... i thought it's more for a tourist attraction rather than making room in singapore for people to have camps and "bonding activities"......
it's the first time my laptop is having a trip out of my house to school... used a lan cable and it worked! but i still wondering how come no need to log in to the school account... maybe laptops no need to log in, but still surprised... now can bring laptop to school and surf web, but dunno whether can connect to the school network drives, but i think should be can...
don't waste time on things that are totally unnecessary...

2004 EOY Prelude 2
it has been a very fast year... the term tests results are coming out simultaneously... luckily i got some a1s, or else i dunno whether where will my msg lie in the level? i cant believe that the average msg for physics is quite "high", and surprisingly, i heard, that the supposedly-to-be-the-best class got a very "high" average msg for maths...
now i got 3 a1s liao... physics, chem and geomorphology... now still haven receive geography of asean paper back yet, but i doubt i can do well... don't even know what to study for the test then, no confidence in aceing the paper... the other subjects, still can lar...
in a few weeks time, the end-of-year examinations are going to commence... i wonder if anyone has started revising for the exams, but i doubt not many people will do so... even i'm still playing some com games, but now not that frequently... but i think the syllabus should be quite relaxed... just hope that they won't strain us too much... i've already had enough of these 2 years...
well, the sabbaticals this week is getting more exciting... of course, what they say everything good comes later... my sabbatical is environmental chemistry, where you study how to test for substances and metal ions present in the water around us... mineral water, sea water, tap water, pond water, blah blah blah... how the water can affect our health and how we can improve the situation... the best part is that i'm going to the nanyang technological university environmental studies department to see the high-tech stuff in treating water for human use... should be quite exciting, really looking forward towards it...
today's sabbaticals is about removing copper (II) ions from waste water using activated carbon (charcoal) and chitin (found in crab shells, lobsters and shrimps)... today's hands-on really very boring, coz need to stir the mixture of the waste water and charcoal/chitin for 1 hour!!! really can die lor... then filter the clear solution out, use micropipette, and blah blah blah... test the samples for amount of copper (II) ions, then compare and plot graph... not very interesting today... but i think tomorrow will be quite a tiring day... going to get unknown solution which is contaminated in whatever damn way, then find out what the hell causes the contamination... just try to make sure that i won't bore myself...
one's wealth is one's health...

2004 EOY Prelude 1
the eoy exams this year is coming soon... i now starting to prepare for the exams alreadi... hope that the preparation will be enough to help me to score well in the exams, except english coz cant study much, and chinese coz dunno whether what will the syllabus will be like after the drastic change...
it had been exactly 3 months since i came back from perth... really miss that place and weather there a lot, but i suppose the weather is starting to get warm now, which i really hate coz i've been in hot and humid weather for 15 years...
sabbaticals next week liao... chose environmental chemistry... lucky mok never conduct any sabbatical course, or else i would have chosen some other courses which do not offer chem ace points... coz my chem ace points not good enough, still need some more, although i got hand in resource package... dunno whether how many points mok will give for the resource package... until now still haven return yet...
i alreadi uploaded the pics i taken from the ndp 2004 as well as the 3 days of the singapore fireworks festival... the links are added on the side bar, hope you will enjoy the pics!

Sabs...
time really flies very quickly... all our term tests were finally over... i'm so relieved, but worried, coz the results will be coming out in these few weeks... this year had not been a very good year... maybe becoz mok is a *jinx to me... since the start of the year until now, i hadn't had good times even during the long holidays, and now the chinese debate is a disaster...
and my god, the chinese debate today... our teacher said it was a great success as it "forces" those who do not speak often to voice out their opinions and show their "prowess" ,or however it is spelled, on the realm of conversation... SUCCESS???????? it's more of a total destruction and failure ratehr than that... some lame topics, and i don't think i want to get involved in politics coz the motion is quite political as the bilingual policy is adopted by the ministry of education... why on earth should i care about this??????? i didn't say i want to be a politician in the future, i would rather "laze" along and do whatever the government wants... because i live in a place called singapore........................
sabbaticals coming up next week... chosen environmental chemistry... dunno whether izzit a really wise choice... i hope so, and hope that the course would be enriching, minus the discussions and questions... primary purpose of joining this course: to get chemistry ACE points... i don't really have enough, though i handed in a resource package, but dunno how many points will it fetch... secondary purpose: when am i interested in chemistry??? suddenly i feel that i'm beginning to pick up an interest in chemistry... ok, maybe because my classmates also joined the course, but dunno why got that interest... maybe becoz of the damn teacher... mok teach until so enthu, make me so enthu also...... dunno whether chemistry term test got do well or not...
talking about this week, focus: athens olympics... ronald susilo lost to thailand!!! i can't believe it... the score: 10 - 15, 1 (!!!) - 15... omg, how come so lousy??? beat the world no. 1 cannot beat neighbouring players... maybe the sports council shouldn't have the damnned reward for winning an olympic medal... 1 million for just a gold medal... where got enough??? even we eat and sleep for 4 years also need more than that! olympics only 4 years once and the reward so low??? some more the stupid newspapers keep reporting about him having high hopes in winning the gold medal and look what happened! no way am i going to be a journalist in the future or else i would be bombarded by people like myself for writing stufff that "makes people fall into very deep traps"...

Olympic Hopelessness
today is already the second day of the athens olympics... some good and bad results... i can make a conclusion now, singapore may not get a medal for this olympics in all the events except table tennis... a very fair conclusion, swimming is down the drain, shooting is as simple as shooting birds, maybe track has some hope, but not much...
the worst is swimming, so many people move about in the water, splashing themselves like mad idiots and in the end not even qualify for the finals or semi-finals... how disgracing... now i realize what makes me hate swimming for the past 15 years...
at least table tennis is good, although most of them are cinese immigrants... so i think they should at least get a gronze medal... another sad one is badminton, both our top man and woman, facing up with china's world no. 1... li li alreadi stumped and out, later susilo will battle at midnight... i don't really have high hopes about susilo winning this match...
do not dream on something that is totally impossible...

Tests of Term 3
one week never update blog liao... i feel veri xian and buzy now... the stupid tests all squeeze together in these few weeks, and finally the mad rush will soon be over... i'm so happy, but sad coz eoy exam coming soon... worse, only have 3 weeks in term 4, dunno whether can make it well in the eoy exam...
last week's tests were integrated humanities and physics... and my goodness, asean come out the questions like so funny, one of them i dunno whether can find in anywhere in the notes i have... geomorphology was much better, but got one 7-mark question, i wrote oni less than half page of foolscap... physics is like *erpx... i don't feel like talking about it anymore... what's over is over... no use crying over spilled milk, especially sour and bad milk...
the singapore fireworks display is at the last show tonight... the fireworks were extremely spectacular, accompanied by the ndp 2004 theme song "home"... hong kees choreographed the fireworks display today... really damn nice... dunno how to describe the mixture of sounds and lights of the display... really enjoyed it as well as the previous 2 other displays by americans and singaporeans on the 1st and 8th august...
but thinking about this week, very sad for me... tuesday is really a very bad day... 17th august: chemistry term test (mok mok mok mok mok), maths term test (log log log log log), violin examinations grade 7 (lah lah lah lah lah)... dunno what to concentration on leh... so many things on that day... i really going to hate the number 17 from now... juz hope that everything goes smoothly on tuesday and i can relax a little after that, coz no more term tests liao, except for a few class tests in term 4... really looking forward to the short break during the september holidays, although it's only one week long...
concentrate on what you think is important...

NDP Aftermath
what a nice ndp this year, although the fireworks were a little too loud... but overall it was a great show... the pre-parade is quite xianz, and the worse is that the tk band dropped their belongings on the field... 2 pieces of red cloth and a pair of shoes... omg... who would ever drop their shoes??? the total defence performance was really scary... suddenly got so many booms here and cracks there... do they really want to scare us to death???
the parade segment was much more better... the contingents marching in and the arrival of the prime minister mr. goh and president... tis year is mr. goh's last ndp as prime minister... this year is really a memorable year... he handed the resignation letter to the president at the istana (presidential palace) at 10 this morning... the new prime minster mr. lee hsien loong, who is still the deputy prime minster, will be the new prime minister on 12 august, although i'm not really looking forward to it...
lemme see... the new cabinet... one word to descirbe......... SUX!!! some of the ministers are like... erpx... not convenient to voice out political aspects here... im not a political gizmo... who cares, as long as i can go on with my own life, why should i care about the government???
btw, get back to the ndp 2004... the parade segment ended with a burst of fireworks from the centre stage... start of the show segment... act 1: our hoem our strength... signifies our garden city with the orchids and dragonflies, constituting to our natural beauty, although it is in fact not natural... act 2: our people our passion... signifies our passion for our own dreams and the spirit of the singapore team right now in athens... 2 mediacorp (our television network) artises performing on a globe patterned balloon... really graceful indeed...
time really flies, only 3 days left to the athens olympics... i'm really looking forward to the start of the games, can see so many world-class athletes competing with each other... they sure will put up a good fight....
act 3: our future our hope... it means us!!! the future of singapore lies on the younger generation and depends on us... of course, i hope that there will not be any idiots... especially from singapore idiot (idol), premiering yesterday... i didn't tune in the radio, so i didn't know the idiots who made a fool out of themselves during the auditions... but i must admit that there must be some really good singers... maybe they can become very famous singers and be known to the globe...
grand finale: our nation our committment... this is singapore, this is where i belong... not because i'm really patriotic, but i eat the food here and sleep in the flats here, must be proud of singapore, or else the government will bombard you! this year's theme song: home... sang in the ndp during 1998... i hate to listen to it again for the second time, but the song is very meaningful... it reflects on what singaporeans think of singapore... the fireworks damn nice... so many patterns...
the webcast of ndp 2004 will be on the web till november... i'm watching it now... if you want to watch, go to http://www.ndp.org.sg/ and find the webcast... watch out for the dual screen webcast too! the swearing-in of the new prime minister and new cabinet will be telecasted live on Channel NewsAsia at 7:50 pm on 12 aug, thursday...
our nation, our committment...

NDP 2004 Prelude 2
so fast almost one week never update already... and ndp is getting closer... 2 more days and i will be getting a new bag provided by ndp 2004... lots of things happened this week...
last sunday, the fireworks display was really nice... thanks to some americans... this coming sunday, the fireworks display will be home-grown, designed by singaporeans... must try to get the same spot to see the fireworks on the esplanade bridge so i can have a good look at them... really looking forward to this fireworks display...
another fireworks display will be on monday, on national day... the national day parade is an annual event and i started watching it live since 1998... however, i oni went to the preview of the show in 1998, 1999 and 2000, and went to the actual parade on the 9th august in 2002 and 2004, this year... didn't go in 2001 coz of psle... didn't go in 2003 coz no chance to touch the tickets, thanks to the stupid balloting system...
tuesday... got so many term tests... english and biology... the questions were really unexpected... i nearly stumped on the paper... hope that can get at least b3... the english compre test is also quite tough... these 2 papers realli made me veri tired... then chem prac was another disaster, coz when she collected the worksheet on chemical bonds, someone did not do the first question and seh went crazy... stupid idiot... who she thinks she is... i think she's a pile of s**t...
don't talk about unhappy things, they will sadden you more...

Weekend Delights...
haix... this week really is a very busy week... and a lousy week as well... so many events coming up this week, good or bad, they are still events...
yesterday was projects' day finals... so afraid that esther cheong might judge us... she really likes to bombard the presenting group with a lot of questions and sometimes might even make you think very hard or even make you speechless!!! the venue was the tech lab room 1... the other resource development juding area was the tech lab room 2, which is directly opposite our juding venue... then esther cheong came, *nightmares*, trying to see which room she was going to enter... "go to the left... go to tech lab room 2, not room 1..." i keep murmurring to myself... die if she judge us, sure got lots of questions to ask one... then she entered tech lab room 2, very relieved man! luckily she didn't judge our group, or else we die in front of her...
the judging started, only a few parents or relatives were there to listen to the presentations... we are the second group to present, i very nervous, coz we didn't change much in our project... the presentation started and it went quite well, the judges didn't ask a lot and the audience did not really bombard us with many questions... i left early so that i can have more time with my homework...
this weekend's homework: not really much, but still it hurts me... going to term test like siao still give homework... can't they just give us some time to study for our tests instead of wasting time on doing worksheets on other topics that are not tested in th tests? chemistry worksheet is quite ok, i finished one of them, but the hcjc tutorial got one question very funny, dunno whether asking for ethene or ethane, coz the question ask about ethane having pi bond and sigma bond, which is not true... ethene have sigma and pi bonds, but ethane only have sigma bond... i decided to ask, but dunno whether she will believe me or not...
otherwise, nothing exciting this week, except for the fireworks festival today... the fireworks very nice, great quality from the americans... the display was magnificent and gorgeous... i only reached there only about 7:30 pm, where there were many people already waiting for the fireworks display to start... crowds of people at the esplanade waterfront (the area near the river in the esplanade compound), the esplanade bridge (road connecting merlion park and esplanade), merlion park, fullerton hotel, other hotels nearby which g\have a great view of the fireworks, even the esplanade park... so many people over there waiting for the short 10 mins fireworks display to start... there was little rain when it started but it later stopped when the fireworks display was about to begin...
the moment everybody had been waiting for, the commencement of the fireworks display... everybody was so engrossed in the colourful lights and sounds of the fireworks... this time round, there were so many patterns to the fireworks which adds a little more to the exciting atmosphere of the fireworks festival... a final burst of large fireworks and the whole display ended, then the rain started again... how irony, the rain ended when the fireworks started and the fireworks ended when the rain started... maybe this has been pre-destined... trying to upload some pics to the web to share with everyone... the singapore fireworks festival also got their official website at http://www.sff2004.com/, but they don't really provide much information about the fireworks display...
the colours of life brings out the really me...

but thinking about this week, very sad for me... tuesday is really a very bad day...
